nope. Just attach the angle brackets off the stock. Mine required some modification.

yep (ish). The black shroud neatly completes the install. The extreme dimensions you depict above is not the chassis size, thats including the plastic surround. But it all fits fantastically.

Have no fear.

Yep, CC's opinion seconded. The only hassle I had was fitting the wires behind the HU.

thanks guys, I should have been more clear, the apeture in question is the one that you remove (the door/plastic frame bit that fits around the stereo). But yes, I've seen a few pictures and it fits very nicely.

My only worry is connecting up the wires, my HU arrived yesterday so I had a look at the loom that comes with it, loads of wires !!! Also, loads of wires that are not needed (all the pre out stuff and the DC/DC converter (what is that?). It must be a real hassle stuffing all that into the recess!

But from looking at the lucid install gude, it appears as though all the required connections from the HU loom go directly into the KCE adaptor and this then simply plugs into the blue OEM ISO connector?

The Alpine lomb fits straight to the adaptor and the the KCE fits to the standard lomb.

Now for the fun part, If you feel confident enough and can see in to the h/u you may be able to see where the pre outs connect to the board.

On some h/units they clip to the board and can be romoved to give extra space, you have to romove the top panel by romoving the screws and taking the top off. I have done this with mine to get rid of the two pre-out wires and 4 large connectors.

If you need a hand i am free this weekend and not too far away

I`ll say one thing as Craig implies.
It is a f*cking squash behind there. I dread the day I need to get behind it again.

simmo, thanks mate, when my KCE adaptor arrives I might well give you a shout (planning to do the whole upgrade, speakers and everything in the two weeks either side of Easter weekend).

One option available for freeing up more space that I have seen on the lucid site is that you can remove the passanger knee panel and place the large wires and the large box on the KCE adaptor in this space at the side of the HU.

you guys tried this?

imagine the scenario where you had to repeat the exercise on the following weekend because you may (allegedly) have set your stereo up as a fire risk

Col, what type of wire and connectors did you use to connect the yellow cable (from memory it ended with a female bullet connector) to your extension cable (from Halfords - how long?) to the battery (again, what's the best type of connector?

answers on a postcard....
