Default Air Pump removal=check engine light, anyway around the CEL?

Air pump was removed, this helps get the cat heated up faster on cold starts. I removed everything in that area, the pump and what looked like to be a relay. First start of the car and all is fine. After the second start, check engine light pops on.

To those that have removed the air pump, do you get a check engine light?

Krazik removed the air pump as well and says everything was fine at BW, though the CEL was lit. I know of no workaround for the light. I'm not sure what I'm going to do if I put the stock ecu back in, since the Mugen ecu does not set off the CEL for this.

the CEL didn't affect the car in any way. Damn the CEL, I was CEL free until now. I might as well try that test pipe and see where I'll be.

That test pipe might cause a limp home mode...or just cel... or tune issues?

You just get the light w/ a test-pipe ...no limp mode (at least here on the east coast).

You still get the light w/ the Spoon ECU as well if you have a test-pipe ...still trying to figure that one out.

Do you want to sell your air pump assembly? I'm in need of a new one, and it doesn't sound like your using yours. Let me know.

i havent had my airpump taken out.. but i disconnected it and put it back together and nows its giving me a check engine line.. for incorrect secondary flow or something like that.. this is the second time.. once when i had my CAI and now with my turbo.. i know that the airpump is for emissions.. i would also be interested if there was a way to bypass that CEL from removing the airpump

How many wires (pins) are in the air pump's harness. If there are only 2 wires, then I think the ECU just checks for a current load from the air pump. The only way to fool it would be to find a REALLY high wattage resistor to put accross the air pump's power leads. If there are more than 2 wires, then it could be more complicated (fan motor RPM wire, etc.).
