Nope test pipe will not cause you any problems except the CEL. I have already gotten used to it now and it doesn't bother me. I have been thinking about removing the airpump and may go ahead and do it since I am already looking at the CEL. Anyone know how much it weighs? Any other good reasons for removing it?

If you don't have a catalytic converter, the air pump serves no purpose. If you already have a CEL from the test pipe, there is no down side whatsoever. Actually, if you are still under warranty, it may be a hassle to put back in...

Sounds like a good plan to me. The ECU may have an output to the relay, and an input back from the relay, to make sure it is working.

Did you do this, and if you did, what happened? Thanks!

Put the secondary O2 sensor in the decat pipe, and you'll no longer get the CEL with the Spoon ECU. It still want's the sensor, but won't CEL from the cat not being there.

Is the air pump hard to remove with the wiring and all?

Also, I read that there were some issues with the different types of cel defeaters. Is that true?

thanks

Brian:

I did this and it did not resolve the problem. I am getting a weird JDM-related CEL code (nothing in our manuals to describe such code). I believe the ECU is looking for something that is not present on the USDM cars - as opposed to the European and JDM vehicles.

I believe Chris from Science of Speed had this problem as well.

Thanks for the advice though.

The code Chris had was 1412 - "Air Pump circuit High Voltage" according to the info I've got. Now, if the code's agree then there might be a market difference. Or it could be the original exhanged ECU. My Spoon ECU is a non-exchange one, so it's a JDM ECU.
