Default Noisy roof blocks out Val Doonigan CD

Ive just bought a Jap import. The noise from the roof is so bad you cant hear each other speak. Ive checked with Honda who tell me that the UK models were re-called for new clamps fitting but they wont do it for a Jap import. Has anyone had a similar roof problem or difficulty with Honda for recall work ? Ive had to bin my Van Hooligan CD's

I have a Jap import and the catches rattle. Not as much as yours by the sound of it.

Coincidentally, this weekend I was going to take a look and see if I can sort them out.

I figure a gentle cuddle with a large pair of pliers should suffice

I think there is a plate beneath the catch which may also rattle so that might be worth looking at.

My catches used to rattle as well - it was the metal plate on the underside of the catch.

When I unclamped the catch I tapped the metal plate with my finger and it would make a noise - to stop it I stuffed a bit of folded paper in-between the metal plate and the outer plastic casing - I haven't had a problem since.

They are not adjustable but if the brackets are worn then the roof will not seal down tightly to the top of the windscreen, I had this problem and replacing the brackets solved it. I posted a thread about it with some pics, I will try and find it and add a link here.

I had the same problem, the noise was uncomfortably loud. Like Frisky, I replaced the blocks.

I was bothered by all manner of roof noises last year.

Rattling catched, wind noise - the lot.

Went to dealer twice.

In the end, a shitload of Vaseline around all of the rubber cured it all. I was amazed.

Try everything!

Just one comment - better to use a water based liubricant such as KY Jelly as vaseline can perish rubber, as happens with other rubber/latex based products, ahem....
