adjusting throttle cable

Threads on adjusting the throttle cable have been around for a long time, but I am posting the topic here as we have a lot of new owners and I have just discovered it myself, thanks to other board members posts.
Specifications as mentioned by other members who have referred to the HELM manual calls for 4-6mm or 3/16-1/4" deflection of the cable. Mine was about 15mm (which seems to be very common). Measure cable slack by placing your finger in the middle of the cable, hold your ruler to the cable, press on the cable and measure the slack.
The result will be less play with the gas peddle upon acceleration. I used to always double pump the gas peddle to make sure I had good acceleration on take off. Now after my adjustment to about 8mm, the hesitation is gone. It just feels like the car is ready to GO! The procedure only takes a mere 2 minutes. Use a 12mm wrench and turn the nut closest to the front of the car in a direction away from you. This will loosen the nut. Then tighten the other nut ( turn nut away from you) to your specs, checking the deflection in the cable with a ruler. Make sure all nuts are tight and take her for a spin. Readjust if necessary. Make sure that the cable is not too tight. Some slack is needed!
I am very satisfied with this extremely easy mod.
Next task, tighten up the slack with the clutch pedal. (xviper? ?)

If you remove too much free play at the top of your clutch stroke, your clutch may not get fully depressed. You need to be careful with this adjustment too or it'll cause some problems.
Why do you think it needs to be "fixed"?

Are you talking about the amount of free play at the top of the clutch stroke?

Looking for some consensus, is this worth it?
my cable is loose under hood but the pedal function/contact seems right
i had my son floor the pedal and the butterfly valve is opening fully.
I just think the felt pad spacer is a little hokey
