Default I am finally back on the road. Just had a new engine put in!

For all of you that don't know I have been off the road for the past 10 months or so after being fvcked around monumentally by Honda Australia.

The story can be found here:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=78621
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=81579

I managed to track down a second hand JDM engine with very low km for a very competitve price.

To my delight it had stainless aftermarket headers on it. I unscrewed the heat shield and there it was: The mugen logo. A free mugen header is a pretty cool freebie.
The engine also came with a complete clutch assembly that happened to be in perfect condition.

Scott at Hondacare did an excellent job of installing it for a very affordable rate. About a third of what any Honda dealer would charge. He has over 20 years exerience working on Hondas and made sure everything was spot on.

The car goes harder than ever.

There are too many people on this board I want to thank for their support. Without their help I definitely would have drowned in all the sh!t created by this god awfull situation.

A few that spring to mind are:

Chris-barry: for his technical expertise and attempts at trying to source me a cheap engine.
Iggy_type_r: For his support as a friend and mutual hatred of Honda Australia.
Barry WY: For his ongoing work documenting F20C failures and giving hope to the victims.
Azstma: For being a good friend and taking the fight to HA.
Scott at Hondacare: for his affordable but quality installation.

Everyone else who offered their support.

And last but not least: Honda Australia.

Thanks for fvcking my life up for the past year.
Fvck all of you peices of shit at HA. May your testicles shrivel(where applicable ofcourse.)
I hope you all die so I can sh!t on your corpses.

And don't worry I will have my day in court.

I am glad you are back on the road.

Check my sig, I took a step in preventing such a problem from occuring to me. Oil bolts, no oil bolts, warranty... All over now

I hope the court date comes soon and you win. Damn those Honda accounting guys, AHM and HA should stop screwing people to save a few bucks.

Thanks for the thanks. I'm glad you're back on the road. I hope the facts in the short block thread help you too. I'm astonished that your repair wasn't covered by warranty.

happy that you've made the most of a bad situation. Any further avenues with HA or HMC in Japan? I too am amazed that you weren't covered by warranty. It begs the question- what is a warranty for? Did you speak with an attourney? Good luck, and please keep us posted.

Welcome back Dom. Dukie valid warranty claims are like lotto over here. I was almost denied my clutch TSB because I took it in with 59400km on the clock with a 60Kkm warranty. And my stereo problem (which mysteriously disappeared) was dismissed. One excuse they tried to give me was that it was a wear item! WTF a stacker wearing out in 3years

Back to Dom, I cant help but think that youd feel bitter every time you seen your car. Do you think even though its running sweet now that the bad memories will tarnish any good experiences?

Did the JDM motor need tuning to handle our fuel? I thought that they had a higher compression than us?

I also owe thanks to you Dom for your advise when getting my clutch done. Its just a shame that I learnt from your mistakes in dealing with HA. Going for the balls straight off the bat certainly made a difference but I still shudder to think what they would have done if it was an engine failure.

The Mugen design has longer exhaust runners which leads me to infer an even peakier power delivery (purely speculation) but the brochure claims meaty increase of 10PS (7.3kW) b/w 6000 and 7000rpm.

Good stuff dhess; I doubt you'll have any problems with pinging using Aussie fuel.

Dom,

Good to hear you are back on the road.

Is VTEC more enjoyable after a long period of abstinence?

Any chance of a picture or measurements of the headers.
