Default Over shifting question

I have 2 questions for you guys.

Is there anything in the stock shifter that prevents one from pushing the shifter too far and damaging the shift forks? (I'm assuming not)

Is there a product out that has adjustable stops for the shifter in our car?
I'm asking this because I had a aftermarket shifter on my last car (99 Mustang GT) that kept me from over shifting during spirited driving (auto-x, fun road, drag strip). I was pretty used to this safety net and I am a little concerned about damaging the tranny on my S.

So does no one have any ideas about this, or has no one thought about it? Seems like something that would have come up with before.
