Tyres SO2 now obsolete
I just bought a set of fronts SO2's, Bridgestone dealer told me they will no longer be stocked, according to Bridgestone. I paid $260 each fitted and balanced, they were discounted for clearance of last 8 sets or so. Anybody wanting SO2's may want to take advantage of the moment. i got mine from dealer in Maribrynong, in Melbourne.

Are they W rated?
S02's have been superseeded by S03's but the S2000 S02 is a special case. It is different from other S02's.
Whether or not the S2000 S02 will continue, or if there is going to be an S2000 S03 is the real question. I wonder what the next batch of S2000's from the factory will wear?

I highly doubt that is true.
Let's get Jim from Tire Rack to chime in on this.
Don't forget, you are talking about our OEM replacements!
I believe Bridgestone is obligated by contract to keep producing them.

Ivor, have a look at the sidewalls of your tyres. Next to the 205/55 R16 there should be "89W". Also check your rear tyres at the same time. (The rears should say 92W)
If the 89W is not there OR if the letter "Z" is there then you have been dudded by your tyre dealer and given the inferior Porsche-spec S02s (Z-rated) rather than the correct Honda-spec S02s (W-rated). Note that W is a higher rating than Z.
Do a search in this forum and you'll see lots of similar stories. I was also caught by this a few years ago. If you're in any doubt about this then pay a visit to one of the S2000 owners here who has the correct tyres and see the difference for yourself.
If you've been given the wrong tyres it would be nice to think that you could go back to the tyre dealer and get a replacement but our collective experience is that tyre dealers are usually pretty ignorant of this important detail and they will usually try to bluff their way out of it with pure bullshit.

But only for two specific cars (as far as i know)... S2K and 911.
Also Aston Martin DB7 and Ferrari 575M come OME with S02s so as far as I know they are being stocked (and made) as well.

I was aware of the W ratings and they are the genuine thing 89W. I had replaced the rears sometime ago with the W rated genuine, paying around $370 (cant remember exactly). The point I was trying to get accross is that Bridgestone Aust are apparently not planning to stock them any more and are selling them at clearing prices.
