"The United S2000 MEET"
I would like to post an idea. It would be called "THE UNITED S2000 MEET". It would take place in the mid UNITIED STATES. Possibly just east or maybe west of the Mississippi. West is prefered as to incourage folks from same. Whereas east has the distance advantage. It would have to be a late summer event 2004,for we would need the time to get the message throughout the United States via our site,as well as make other arrangements. Think about it. We might be able to get as many as ten thousand S2000 owners to attend. Sounds really
to me. I myself would take an emergency vacation if nessary to attend such an event. If we the members of S2KInternational post mult.replies to do this posting our site leaders would have little choice but to comply. Its not as if we want to put our site moderators in a bad possition. It will take a coordinated effort by all members to make it happen. If I see an intrest in this posting I will personally duplicate this posting with all clubs in the International so as to get more input. This is just an idea and I/We need more information as to the best location in the U.S. Its ok Tell me what you think!
I agree, the planning would be astronomical. You need a location for starters, and finding are accomodations for overnight stays, parking, food, you'd probably need a permit for that large of a gathering, insurance and so much more.
It's a great idea, but I don't think you could plan it alone.

Redline, I'd be interested (new Baltimore S2K owner here!) I like the idea of a national meet for S2KI members. I'd also love to take a road trip with my new S2K next summer.
For idea for locations, maybe we should look at where some major national events have taken place in the past.
The SCCA Solo Championships are held in Tokepa, Kansas, which seems pretty central to the continental US.
Tokepa, Kansas:
1255 miles from New York
1558 from Miami
1556 from Los Angeles
1861 from Seattle
In fact this page says the exact center is near Lebanon, Kansas, which is 219 miles west of Topeka. Maybe Wichita would be better, since it's only roughly 75 miles east of Lebanon.
Wichita, Kansas:
1387 miles from New York
1659 from Miami
1488 from Los Angeles
1841 from Seattle
Looks like that would be more fair to LA people, but Seattle is screwed either way.
Just some ideas. Hope that's what you're looking for. All distances from Mapquest.

This is the kind of response I/we need to pull off such an event
Please keep the ideas coming. Perhaps if not this upcoming year, maybe early 2005? This goes way beyond cliques. I'm going to hold this concept for quite some time or until someone way up there in this sites management blocks me from trying. It seems to me this is something that almost has to happen
I have thoughts of dozens of Honda S2000's on a road course for one to two hours at a time. After two to three days of qualification the best times go into two final three hour races. One for stock config.& one for mods. Qualifications would include both categories so as to prove there ability in traffic and perhaps save time. There may be several owners/drivers who only wish to watch. I really feel that in order to pull this off we need a road course in the central United States in order to draw the number of people needed to make this an historical event. We are going to need help from upper S2kInternational management to secure such a site. All perticipants would have to sign a waiver against death and dismemberment responsibility to the course owners. If at all possible waive the rollbar requirement on perticipants cars.
This in itself will be a big hurdle. All other safety equipment would apply, helmet, gloves, fire extinguisher & shock trauma medevac units on site standby etc.. I did not say it would be easy, but I do feel it is possible. I will start to e-mail various tracks in the midwest outlining this concept and its feasibility. This however depends upon the reaction to this concept from moderators/members. I'm still very open to other alternatives as to the focal point of such a large event.
Please reply
anyone/everyone. Where there is the will, there is always a way.

Kinda like Sturgis...only S2000 style
It's great to hear a few of these ideas floating around about a meet in a bit more of a central US location
. Maybe one will go through or it might work for the meet cordinators to pool reasorces and work on it together. So far I have seen ideas for a meet in Colorado, Michigan, and this one. Colorado would such a great place to take the S2k

My first run on the dragon was in the rain. I had mybad and airgate right in front of me. They wouldn't backoff and nor would I. I ran the dragon five times and upon reflection I feel the first run in the rain was the best. Maybe because we didn't run into traffic or because our cars held the road so well in the wet. Rain could not put a damper on such an event.Besides it would have to be a full four day event and i'll have my stock tires if it rains
What am I saying if I ran slicks I guess my car would not be stock. I'm still researching, tring to find a place/road course in the mid west. An idea is one thing but to bring it to reality is all together something else. Time is still on our side. S2000's will be around for many years to come. If we all think and work together we can make this happen.
Please submit more positive feedback if at all possible
