ok, i remember something akin to that when i was growing up (grew up an LDS), but never really bothered with the meanings behind it. but since i'm buddhist now, does that mean i'm a real person?

Hey now, it's their decision. While I agree it is strange I have nothing against any form of religion, I just personally don't believe in it.

 

^ sorry bud, don't really want to debate it (it'll get this thread locked faster than u can say "polygamy"), but if you do any research into corporate-type structure of that cult (and they're selling access to Heaven, mind you) you'll start to understand. many organized and highly structured (tiered) religions are about the same, but this one in particular actually sends young adults out to various countries (paid for not by the church but by that kid's family) specifically to recruit new members, so they too can tithe 10% of their incomes. and did you know that there are only 4-- yes 4-- families in charge of the entire Mormon church fortune?

access to Heaven. that's what they're selling, and if you don't do it their way, at their cost you don't get to go.

what a scam. classic brainwashing cult on a massive, insidious scale. fantastically executed, as scams go.

^ sorry, choice is not one of your options. you're indoctrinated early if born into it, otherwise the brainwashing comes hard and heavy, with no middle ground. you're either In and Giving to the Cult, or you're burning in Hell. when you meet and talk to a Missioinary, that's your wake up call from God that you're either doin the eternal fire-dance in Hell, or... for the cheap cheap cost of only 10% of your income for the rest of your life, you get to go Club Heaven!
