convertible top covered under warranty??
hiya!! im a new owner of an '00 s2000.
i have a bumper to bumper factory warranty from honda. i noticed today, that i have a small tear in my convertible top. the tear is in a crease that is made when the convertible top is lowered. i guess you can call it a stress crack from being lowered. i hope this thing is covered...

Chances are the answer will be no and will be considered a wear and tear item. At least one other has said that the extended warranty did not cover the top but the 3/36,000 warranty did.
Never hurts to ask though.

solar,
About a year ago, I had a tear in my '02 convertible top, and it was replaced under the 36k factory warranty. No hassles there.
Now, I have a tear again, my factory warranty is over, and I'm in the 100k extended warranty period. My extended warranty doesn't cover the convertible top.
Now, to be fair, my extended warranty is an aftermarket one, not HondaCare. However, I was told by the Honda dealer's service manager that even if I had the HondaCare extended warranty, they still wouldn't cover it since it's a wear-and-tear item. That sounded like hogwash to me, but since I don't have HondaCare, I didn't bother pressing the matter.
It definitely doesn't hurt to ask. Ask several dealers if necessary. Is your car still under the 3 year / 36k factory warranty? Since it's a '00, I'm guessing no...but if it is, then get it in to the dealer before that expires, I think that will increase your chances greatly. Good luck!
