P0411 and P0170 errors after SC install. suggestions (esp xviper)?
i had to put xviper in there cuz not only are you my idol but my searched on P0411 turned up your name several times.
just finished with my comptech sc w/ ac on the 14th. fixed a small wiring issue that was causing a P0171, but now i'm getting these:
P0411 (and mentions something about bank 1 -- i'm assuming this is the temp code shown in helms)
P0170 (temp for fuel too lean)
P0411 (the full title that's in the helms ... Secondary Air Injection System Incorrect Flow Detected)
i'm guessing it's the last P0411 error that the ECU is wanting to tell me. the other two stem from it.
Symptoms
none to report really other than the CEL. when it comes on, i don't go above 5k RPM's just to be safe. idle seems fine. acceleration fine. all check. i'm not sure if this is normal, but i've noticed it takes 1/2 a sec longer to start with the new FI. and when i boost it, i hear pops from the exhaust much like i used to hear from my R6 when i was gunning it. both of the above i am assuming is normal, but thought worth mentioning.
Troubleshooting thus far

checked the white check valve for proper direction. the white, protruding section is going to the ACV and the other to the manifold just as xviper's photo demonstrates.

checked for leaks. i hear no hissing (although not exactly sure what i should be listening for).

checked for proper hose placement. everythign is as according to comptech's instructions.

checked that all hoses were connected tightly.

reset ECU. no CEL, but i'll expand on that below.
i did reset the ECU, and it's gone, but last time it came on, it took 24 hours. this is the first time i've had issue with it, but i wanted to get a head start on finding solutions before it happened again.
so before i start ripping off hoses and inpecting for holes and leaks, what else can anyone suggest? is there something i'm overlooking? are the vacuum hose directions incorrect in the comptech instructions?
i gave comptech a call and talked to shad (nice guy. seems to know his shit). here's what he had to say.
the 170 is prob due to some more bad wiring of the ESM on my part so to sodering a go.
and the 411's he thinks might be the check valve and hosing in that area if not how i connected to the hard lines on the engine. since my instincts tell me it's possibly the check valve, i wanted to post a pic to describe where that stuff is going. i didn't feel like getting technical and using big words as you can see.
lol shad's a freakin' genius. for anyone who has this problem in there future, here's the fix. keep in mind that i haven't had time to do it just yet, but i'm certain this will fix it.
if you look at the top center of that pic, you'll see that lil black piece where two hoses are connected (air control solenoid valve). when we installed it, we did so upside down; however, we still put the hoses in as the diagram shows. in another words, they were the wrong way. now, i just need to reach in there and switch them and the CEL shouldn't appear again. fortunately, this was an error that didn't harm the engine or the SC, only emission stuff.
one last thing ... comptech rules! i called shad earlier today and he gave me a few things to look at which all appeared ok. it's after i talked to him that i took that shot and posted it. i wasn't even focusing on the solenoid, yet he still found the problem. that's just genius. and he had the answer faster than i could reply.
Nice of Comptech to help you figure this out, since it's partly their fault. I'm not bashing them, just saying that if they had better instructions this wouldn't be a common problem.
I found that the vacuum hose hood sticker supplied by comptech was better than the instruction book for clarity of the hose routing. If they really "ruled", they would include instructions clear enough that any backyard mechanic could follow and there would be no phone calls needed.
BTW - I'm very happy with my SC and think Comptech did a great job on a plug-and-play kit, even though their warranty replacement fuel line leaked just like the original and I had to install ordinary rubber hose to get rid of the constant fuel odor.
ya know, mod, the picture actually shows that solenoid the other way around. yeah, it's sorta subtle, but it's noticeable enough that i shouldn't have overlooked it as i did. i'll take the heat on that one, but their air box instructions area. now, that was a little vague.
btw, love the glove box organizer and shift beeper. both have well been worth the price.
