Default Wastegate vacuum line question?

Ok is the correct way to "t" the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line and then go to the side outlet of the wastegate.

Or is the correct way to run a Vacuum line just after the turbo compressor(some turbo's even have a pre drilled hole at the end of the compressor housing for this) and then to the side of the wastegate?

Thanks in advance, Greg

if your turbo housing has a hole then you can use that and the top nipple of your wastegate for the boost control valve. If not then you could use both nipples from the wastegate itself.

For the boost sensor, you would tee off the vacuum line from the fpr to the intake manifold

to only boost up to the spring PSI rate use the side... to use a solenoid or boost controller ruse both the top and the side.....

ok lets see if I can get this straight.

Tap fpr vacuum line and goto my boost sensor then from the boost sensor to the top nipple of the wastegate, also go from the hole in the compressor housing to the side nipple of the wastegate. I do both is this correct.

Or

Tap the fpr vacuum line and goto my boost sensor then from the boost sensor run two vacuum lines to the wastegate one for the top and one for the side.

Sorry for the confusion. Maybe it will be clearer to me when my Boost controller arrives in the mail.

Any Input?

Thanks, Greg

Greg,

you have two items to deal with in seperate area. First is your boost valve or solenoid. You want to place this as close as possible to the wastegate. With this solenoid you will have two lines. If your turbo housing has a nipple or hole you should use that tap. That will go to one side of the valve/solenoid. The other side of the vavle will go to the top to the wastegate. In the event you did not have the hole in the housing then you would use the bottom nipple of the wastegate instead.

Depending on you application you should also have a pressure sensor. The pressure sensor should be tee into the vacuum line between the intake manifold and the fuel pressure regulator.

I hope this makes some sense. BTW which boost sensor and contoller are you using?

Get the file "AEMPro User Guide V2.0" from the AEM forums and do a find for "boost control". There are three different ways to plumb a WG with a boost solenoid. It is VERY clearly illustrated.

Use the first method they demonstrate if you have a side barb and a top barb to your WG - It definitely works - I know.

To answer your original question - if you eliminate the boost solenoid and want to operate at the spring rate of your WG, then yes, "T" the vaccum line to your FPR and run a line directly to the side barb on your WG.

Thank you so much guys.

Blues2k3: I am using the greddy e-01 boost controller and the greddy 60 mm boost pressure sensor.

Jahwerx: I will definetly check out that user guide to see the different ways. We never hooked up for that ride last fall. Maybe sometime this summer we can check out each other rides considering we only live 15 miles apart!

Thanks again. Think I got down now!

I think if you download the demo software it also comes with the PDF file too.

So are you boosting and spraying now?

yup - I'm around, though you might not recognize the car soon - I'm going to go back to 100% OEM look I think PM me and we'll hook up - I'm definitely curious as to what you are doing now.
