Default Sound Dampening the S2000.

I know that most all of you will think I'm crazy, but I'm applying some Quiet Car material to my S2000. Most of us are familiar with the clutch buzz on decel, and it is my goal to try and lessen the annoyance of this sound.

I am going to be applying this stuff to the transmission tunnel (removing the centre console and anything else in the way).

Be interesting to see how this turns out!

Bravo! A pail of QuietCar is on my TODO list. I'll be anxious to hear what you think when you're done. Where are you getting the stuff from? Direct from QuietCoat? You should think about doing the outer door skins as well. Apparently it can really punch up the stereo and prevent the doors from sounding like a cheap American car when closed.

Chris.

Yeah I got it direct from quietcar.net. Was about $78 USD shipped to my business. No duty either, but I have a feeling fedex will be sending me a bill for it later on.

I only purchased 1 gallon, because of the relatively small area. I'm going to do my door panels if I have enough of this stuff left over (I think I should).

I'm going to be ripping apart my interior when I get home from work tonight, luckily I have a day off tomorrow so the timing is perfect to do this little project.

Chris.
I have something like this on my car and it definitely improves the sound quality of the stereo.

I thought that the buzzing was only a problem on earlier model years....I had the clutch TSB done and the noise went away. Dylan, you need a louder exhaust to drown out all of that unwanted noise!!

I'm definitely getting a supersprint if I like the sound

The buzz is just a characteristic of the clutch in the S2000... I don't think they could ever make it "go away" - so I'm just going to try and hide it!

So far so good... one layer on. It kind of applies like a thick latex paint. Going to finish it tomorrow, and then go for a drive. I'll have TONS left... probably enough to do my doors, and trunk (if I wanted to)... and I only purchased one gallon!

Well I got the car back together this afternoon. Immediate impressions are that there is a reduction in sound. And to be clear, I didn't even cover a large section of the car. Just the top of the centre console, and the 3-4 inches on each side of it, that are covered by the fake leather console cover. I also covered back to 4-6 inches on each side of the glovebox (near the bottom, again where the fake leather thing is).

The cluch rattle is less audible now, but definitely still something to be noticed, but I'm happy with the improvement.

I have about 90% of this stuff left, so I think I'm going to do my doors in the next little while.
