Default Shifter Install *

Installed a prototype RP shortshifter today and took pictures.

This thread is not to argue the merits of a shortshifter.

Step one: Remove the knob. You may need to back off the jamb nut (14mm.) Pull the center console starting at the back and working forward. Just pull up.

There are two plugs that require squeeze and separate. Note that the emergency flasher switch the white separates from the blue.

Looking down into the opening for the shifter you will see a rubber boot. It has four clip holding it in that must be pulled up. (No picture) This will expose the second rubber boot over shifter bolts as seen in the following photo. Ignore the four bolts seen in this picture, the ones you want are under the lower rubber boot.

The lower boot is pulled back to reveal the bolts we need to remove.

With the shifter in neutral, remove the 3 bolts and pull the shifter straight up. Leave the greasy spring in the hole to avoid the mess. The shifter is greased very well.

Install in reverse order and you are done.

This Vodoo knob sits about as low as you can go.

Thanks to Casterdog for letting my photo his install.

Quote from Richard Paul

"We shall make the production run in about two weeks. How we will market them will be decided before that and I'll let you know."

More importantly, how do you like it?

Comptech is also releasing one for the S2000 soon.

I modified my stock one.
