Ok, I installed my JIC Stainless Cat-back yesterday and decided I'd weigh everything including stock pieces. I haven't seen a thread here with multiple different exhaust weights. Perhaps others who have weighed their exhausts can post in here as well, I'll make a list and perhaps we can sticky this in one of the forums.

Hey guys...I'd really like to make a thread and have it linked so everybody could see what kind of weight savings they are getting before they even buy the exhaust. Help me out, for example:

If we can make one thread be the database it would make searching much easier...or at least we'd only have to link to one thread.

 

I'm curious as to how much the header heat shield weighs. If it's significant it might be worth it to go with the wrap. I think it'd be smart to change the wrapping every once in awhile though, people often talk about moisture settling under it and ruining the header. Also, how much does the CAT heat shield weigh, and can you use the stock heat shield on any of the test pipes to make it look like a legal cat?

 

The actual heat shield weights for the header are probably about 4-5lbs all together, its probably 2-3 lbs for heat wrap...IMO not worth changing on a stock header.

Heat Shield for cat is probably on 2-3lbs, and yes you can get it welded to a test pipe to make it look like a cat.

 

Thanks silver, I may try and take it to a shop to get some sort of flanges or tabs welded on so that I can bolt the shields on. I think the 2-3 pounds would be worth it to have a stock looking cat

I should be getting my T1R 70mm next week. I'll weigh and let you know how much for the catback part.

 

Thanks...yes let me know both the cat-back portion and the test pipe...but tell me seperately. Hopefully we can different test-pipe weights as well. Although they should all be close to the same.

 

 

I care . I just want to know how much the HKS Hi-Power weighs so that way I know how much weight savings from the stock exhaust it offers.

Nice idea for a thread. As for Afwfjustin's question, the T1R test pipe that I have already has brackets welded to it so you can just bolt on the stock cat shield.
