Ever since installing my comptech CAI, I've been getting a horrid rattle that seemed to come from the dash or windshield trim. I decided to try a cheap fix, and it worked for me.

First, I went to Home Depot and bought a roll of 'Frost King' 'Rubber Foam Weatherseal, Self Stick Tape'. The size I picked up is 3/8" wide by 7/16" thick.


Take of the airbox lid:


Apply a line of the insulation tape around the lip of the airbox:


Re-install the lid


No more rattle!!

 

This also helps

Take some vacuum tube and cut a little pieces off. Install it on the 3 screws.


You can screw them down more than this (I did this for demonstration purposes). It also helps to keep your screws from digging into your cf lid.

If I may ask...what kind of filter element is that in your Comptech box?

Did your box come with original foam? (the original sucks and comes off anyway)

 

It's an AFE 24-55507. The nose of it rubs against the horn bracket and it takes some effort to get it *in* the box, but it fits.

My intake did not have any foam, but I did pick it up used.

 

mine had a vibration that stemmed from the sound. at a certain rpm my upper windshield vibrated like crazy. had to get rid of the comtech.
