And for your edification, not only does GM have an S2k that they benchmark (a lot) I know some of the test drivers, and they love the S. Last year there were a bunch of MPG (Milford Proving Grounds) test guys autocrossing a redline Ion - they won the divisional DS championship. There are a lot of fast folks out there, and they're very unbiased when it comes to sports cars. I really think they did a good job of the Solstice v. the Miata (not that I'd ever get either) (unless there was sponsorship $$ involved)

Typical, the initial production is sold out. Which means even good dealers are charging a premium. And once the 'buzz' dies off, will it remain a contender against the Miata? I don't know - I think it's going to require a serious amount of support from GM to make the thing a real motorsports force. That's a huge advantage in the Miata; so many people racing them, an honest racing pedigree.
And my $0.02, I'd rather have a Miata.
