You're on DIYMA too? What name do you post under?

Looks like I'm going to want an alpine deck. My current alpine gets washed away in the sunlight.

I mostly just lurk. There's lots of useful info there but lately I've started wondering if the main purpose of that forum is to build up credibility for one guy so they can plug their own products.

Wow....Id get this. The main thing I hate about the KCislkdnfskldnfskn20 is that its slow. If it reads like on the ipod directly,Im sold.

I have the KCA-420i, and while it is very nice in other regards it basically requires you to get very creative with playlists. If you want a particular song right now, fuggheddaboutit. Also both the Alpine and Apple MIX/Shuffle modes are very non-random.

What's interesting is that I heard the true limitation for data transfer of song names etc was not the Alpine box itself, but rather the fact that the data was coming thru a simple serial connection. I hope we don't need a new iPod for this too. Conveniently MacWorld San Francisco is coming in January...
