.....this discussion was pulled from another thread where it broke out as a debate as to whether the concept of a "MY1999" exists - S2000GT

As a model year or just sold early? I'm pretty sure they were considered early model year 2000. I wouldn't mind being proven wrong if you have some photos of doorjamb stickers or something. Even if they're in Japanese I should be able to read them.
Thought about it some more, a brochure from the 1999 model year in any country would do it for me.

If I remember correctly, the S2000 debuted at the LA Auto Show in 1998. It was promoted as being release for sale in fall of 1999 as a 2000 model.

Alright, my mistake. I looked, and I found some places that said it was a 1999 model year...no reputable sources though.

Don't forget the s2000 was suppose to celebrate Honda's 50th Anniversary in Motorsports. So 2000 should be the correct year. But other countries might consider vehicles sold in a particular year to be the actual model/registration year.

Most countries consider a car built and sold in 99 to be a MY99. As far as I know only NA believes a car can be sent back in time.

Thanks for clearing that up. That's what I assumed as it never really made much sense to me either. But it's not sent back in time, it would be sent forward. An S2000 built/sold in 1999 and considered a 2000 model.
