Default Do you REALLY need?!

...a signature with 12 pictures followed by a list of modifications longer than your post? And then post in every thread with displaying your signature in every post you make...?! And then forcing the width of the page beyond width of my 17 inch monitor so I have to scroll sidweays to see the freaking message!?

Please, this is getting BEYOND ridiculous...!

I'm noticing even more than usual because I'm at my parent's place on 56k and it's taking more time to load sombody's insane signature than the rest of the thread!!

STOP THE MADNESS!!!

But Greg, I must list my car, all the modifications including the fact that I installed everything like my Muz mats, and list my other cars, the modifications to them, and the cars I've had before and the modifications to them, when I told them, blah blah blah blah.

/rant

Now you get why I rant, even with a cable modem and 21" monitor at home, its ridiculous, and can you imagine on a notebook with dialup? Its ugh, ungodly, especially for the guys who refuse to change their sig pics that are well over 900kb!

Dude, just for you and your slow 56K connection (albeit temporary) I've resized my sig pic

P.S. Does the S2KCA logo qualify as a mod

Schatten, I hear ya, man...but you forgot about 37 things that must be listed as PLANNED modifications...

I think there should be a file size limitation to this...I really feel for folks on dial-up. And even on DSL, as I have at home, it's a huge PITA.

It's a combination of and

Greg, I agree completely. I could put quite a list up, but why? I really don't see the purpose of broadcasting what I've done to my car in every post.

Stookins, the little thumbnails are fine with me...but when you start having collages of photos with your car in every possible setting, it just gets OLD!

It's the listing of modifications along with these huge pictures that bugs me. I could fill two pages with modifications, but I don't...just like Rick.

And the S2KCA badge isn't a mod, it's essential!

Everyone tends to take their fast internet connection for granted and ALSO thinks that everyone else is as fortunate as they are.

I'm here to tell you: Get your head out of the clouds! There are a lot of people such as myself, that simply can not get a fast internet connection, no matter how much you want one!

These GAMES get OLD very quickly.

End of rant.

Merry Christmas everyone,
Bob

Go to "Edit Options" in "MyS2000" and select to not view sigs and avatars then be happy!
BTW, Merry Christmas

Thanks for bringing this up Greg. This has been a growing problem with no end of complaints. Unfortunately it's becoming a black and white issue. We've been pretty lax about it, even joked about it, but it's got to stop. If people can't use some restraint and consider others then we may be forced to take drastic action like severely limiting what you can put in your signature (read: NO PICS!).

Here are some basic rules of courtesy that should be followed:

- Include your signature only once per thread. It's not necessary to see it 50 times.
- Keep your images small, no larger than 200 pixels wide x 100 pixels high and keep the size under 8-10K, and only use one.
- Use your avatar instead
- If your signature has broken images, fix or remove them.
- keep it short, 4-5 lines max. It's a signature, not a web page.
- Sponsorship fees DO NOT include a banner in your signature.
- You may not include a link or banner to any website unless they are a current sponsor or the pages referenced are personal. If you own or work for XYZ Corp then you cannot have a link to xyzcorp.com in your signature, it's not considered a personal page. Personal pages contain personal information, if in doubt, ask.

I send PMs and emails to people everyday asking for them to change their signatures and mainly I'm ignored or laughed at. After a while I get frustrated and am forced to take action to remedy the situation, then I'm a bastard for doing it. Well that may be true but I'm offering fair warning. Fix the problem yourselves or force me to take matters into my own hands. It's not a task I relish and I could do without the flames and endless dialog afterward but I will do what needs to be done. The admins and moderators have voted on this issue and the result was to remove all pics from signatures. I'd rather not but I require the members help to keep that from happening.

This is serious. Please don't put me in an awkward position.

OK, I'll reduce my sig before I'm asked to.
And if I "uncheck" the "Show Signature" box, does this only apply to that specific post or does it remove it from every and all posts I've ever made? (Just trying to be a team player.)
