Is there any way to put tab characters into messages?

There seem to be quite a few occasions where it would help. It would have helped with some alignment info I posted, and some info in a recent oil thread for example. With proportional fonts, space don't work too well.

So {tab} (replace { with [ etc.) gives tabs.

Sorry, I was experimenting. Here's what you do:

[ pre ]
this is a[ tab ]tabstop
this[ tab ]is another
[ /pre ]

Which looks like:
[pre]
this is a[tab]tabstop
this[tab]is another
[/pre]

The spaces inside the [ and ] are just so they don't get interpreted. Omit them.

 

Right. Got it working. Done a little test here.

Is there a faq anywhere on all the options for these code things in posts?

Not yet, I just implemented it Not sure what's up with that extra in your post. Saturday is a good day to get me to do these little things.
