Who would be interested in a sub setup that...
... that could fit completely inside the tool well area?
I'm talking the sub, sub box and the amp and all wiring under a panel. so the trunk can still be used and so you could keep the spare tire (the whole thing would be connected via molex connector). You could remove the setup and place it around the flat tire for the drive home.
I'll warn you this setup will cost more than the current Group Buy but I'd really like to hear your feedback.
I also might be able to set it up to fit 2 amps under the panel for the front stage amp as well... but I'll have to get the gear here and give it a try before I say that for sure. But I positive I can do the sub/subbox/amp in that spot.
The sub will be the Critical Mass LS102 sub:

The amp will be a SoundStream PCA1500D:

Pricing will be decided later on. But it will be fairly pricey, given the equipment being used. But on the other hand it will allow you to keep your trunk use, and your spare tire, but have amazing sub output with high quality gear.

Lets see some pics....definitely sounds interesting...if people cannot fork out for the $500+ sub, maybe the Pioneer TS series, with a smaller amp. These subs are limited by 250wrms of output for the 10".
It all depends on the pricing...I would probably be in....ready to regain my trunk!

I'd be interested, depending on price and such of course. I already have a small sub setup but this sounds easier for removal at the track, etc than what I'm currently using, and a little more compact. i could move my current setup to my integra
Im sure all the track guys will love this John! Great idea!. I would make one (complete assembly) and post it up.....I smell another hot groupbuy!
Also, you can make the same setup, but for the "baller on a budget" crowd....
Use a smaller, less expensive amp, and for sub, go with the Pioneer TS-SW2541D

The critical mass sub is great, but like you said, a little on the $$ side, so this might be a nice alternative for the people on a tighter budget.

I agree that you will not get the same output with the Pioneer sub, but not everyone has $550 to drop on just the sub. What about mounting a low displacement sub inverted on a small flat box? The magnet and basket assembly would be sticking up, but if its removable, the spare can still be used when the box is placed in the front seat or something.
