Im cleaning this thread up. Japcab, before you argue, make sure you know who you are talking to, and in the future, if you have nothing useful to add, dont post.
To other members/posters, I will cleanup the replies, because I think this is a great idea/thread, and want to keep the interest alive. John, if you want, Ill sticky it
Damn, why did you have to give out my secret Euge! John is putting 3 of these in my A pillars, and 2 in each rollbar. Retail would be 1.3 million, but since I get the fellow moderator discount, Im only paying 1 mill flat.
Now that I have found my nitroglycerin bottle and the palpitations have subsided this link was probably a Good Thing for this thread because the actual price of the speaker John has spec'ed here seems much easier to swallow.
I am interested to hear what comes out of this concept....
Everyone should experience the electrostatic magnificence at least once in their lifetime. Go to www. martinlogan. com or www. soundlab-speakers .com for two of the best home-based manufacturers, IMO. I have heard both, and owned M-Ls for over 5 years. There is something ethereal about how they sound. If there's a dealer in your area, it would be highly worth your time to go listen to them.
As for a setup in a car, I'm sure they would sound great, but I suspect that you would get just as good or better sound with conventional dynamic drivers as electrostatics typically need lots of breathing room (i.e., space) to sound their best. And, at over a quarter-million, you could buy the best home electrostatics made and have change for an amp or two.
