With a 4.77 ure speedo will be out 16.34%. A yellow box or yellow jacket is relatively cheap and quite effective.Ive got a 4.77 final drive, and the yellow box corrected the speedo error. I double checked it with a Nav system and it was spot on. Search in UTH for more info.

Changing the final drive is really for us mere mortals who are NA. A 4.77 would be overkill for FI. If anything maybe a 4.44, but i really dont think u need to worry about gears with a turbo. Stick with Aus' advice,he should steer u straight.
The car comes stock with a 4.10 Final drive. For every revolution of the wheels the shaft will turn 4.10 times. With 4.77 it turns 4.77 times per revolution. This in turn shortens ure gears, reving to 9K a hell of a lot faster, whilist lowering ure top speed. So instead of 260km or so i can only get to about 240km, not a real problem for me. Best mod for NA IMO.
Theres HEAPS in UTH, search if ure interested.

ok ok, but with the 4.77 driving at 100km/h in 6th, what is the rpms?!?
6th gear is a bit sluggish, but how much is the gear and whats it worth to get the gearbox pulled out, gear changed and put back together again?

final gear affects all the gears
you have your 6 cogs for your 1st to 6th gear and those cogs match up to a final gear cog and thats at 4.1 stock.
if you change the ratio of that final gear, then you alter the ratio of all your gears and also alter the performance in every single gear

Just to be clear the final drive is in the diff, u dont have to drop or open the gearbox. With the 4.77 i can now accelerate quite nicely 6th so drivability is certainly improved. I dont have 0-100 time but i plan to get a 1/4 mile time when the cars all done, i'll let u know. I have been driving with a few stock s2000 and im certainly much quicker in a straight line. Obviously once i hit my top speed of about 240km, the stock car will eventually pass me. At 100km i sit on 3900 rpm. Heres a calcualtor that might help

Including all parts and installtion it was just under $2k. U could spend alot more on intake, exhaust and headers but u still wont have the performance the final drive gives. Its the best thing ive done to the car. If u read/search in under the hood, a few ppl have remarked that the 4.77 will keep up with a s/c up till 80mph. Im not sure about that coz ive never been in a s/c S and it kinda sounds like BS,but its a nice thought
