Default DIY Black AP1 Wheels

Before I started this job I looked for something like this for a while but couldn't find anything. So I decided to do it myself to help out others who might be thinking of painting their wheels too. If it has been done before let me know and I can close this. To anyone who intends to do this project, it can be done in one day but budget two, because you never know. The supplies and materials cost me less than $40, and everything can be found at a hardware store and most automotive stores. Please be sure to follow the safety warnings and labels on all the products. THESE ARE SOME HARSH CHEMICALS AND ARE VERY HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH.

Things you'll need:
Paint stripper that is safe for aluminum
Paint thinner
Brillo pads and/or sandpaper
A scraper that is safe for use with stripper
Paint brush
Primer, paint, and clear coat (Duplicolor x 2 for all)
Painters tape
Chemical safe gloves, household ones won

Sorry the car and the wheels are a little dirty. I went autocrossing yesterday and haven't washed the car yet, but you get the idea.

The pictures make it look worse than it really is, but after they cure I intend to wet sand them which will take out the high spots. The orange peel is really only noticeable if you are right on top of the wheels, but it is more than I could live with. I was hoping not to have to wet sand. I will put a blurb in my saved post about that too.

A few people asked...the inside of the wheel (from the end of the lip to the inside edge) there is no paint or coating. All I did was rough it up, clean with thinner, and paint. Be sure to take off the wheel wights and the associated glue too. Applying the stripper inside the hoop will only make a mess.

thats hardcore...i thought i was the only one that went that deep...but i used 200-400-600-1000 grit sandpaper, then i did the primering, then the coats of black paint and finally coats of clear coat.... to you for posting...
