Running Wires For Sirius
Is there a good way to hide wires running from the back of the passenger compartment to behind the headunit? I am installing a sirius trunk tuner - not sure if it will go in the trunk or under the seat, but either way I need to get wires from the secret compartment, to whereever the tuner unit it and then to the headunit.
So really any hints and tips on running and hiding wires would be appreciated.
I will most likely pull out the seats for the install, but I'd rather not have to pull the carpets out.

the easiest is probably to run the wires from the hidden compartment
behind the vent panels (behind the seats), and down through one of the
sills to the front. All of those panels come off easily, and no carpet needs
to be removed. A (cleaner?) alternative is through the center console,
which is not really difficult either, only tricky part is threading the wires
down and around past the shifter. I ran RCAs and speaker wires through
there:

If you decide to go this route, I'll post some tips.

ok, this is all from memory, so hopefully it's accurate. applies to my '01,
can't speak for the AP2 cars...
I believe the center console is held on only with clips, so just work your
way around popping it up. To remove it entirely, you need to remove
the shift knob - I didn't, I just worked around the console while it was still
attached to the shifter. Just unclip the harness connector you can see in
the above picture.
When you have the radio out, you'll see the hole in front that my gray
RCAs go down through in the picture - there's a factory harness that goes
down it already. By the way, I believe that box below the radio is part of
the SRS, so I'd unhook the battery before mucking around.
To help thread the wire(s) down and around the shifter, I used a piece of
solid copper wire cut from a section of Romex (the stuff used to wire
houses). It's just the right consistency to hold a shape you give it until
it needs to bend. Once you have it threaded through, attach a wire to
one end and pull it through. If you have more than one wire to thread,
tape the 2nd to the 1st after you've pulled it through, and then pull them
both through. While it's not a necessity, a little cable lube (available at
home depot) will make it that much easier.
You'll need to route the wires away from the handbrake, and you need to
do it further forward than in the picture because it won't clear that
connector that sticks down from the console.
I think I just loosened the screws below the rear console, and pushed the
wires through - with the rear vent panels out, you can reach behind the
console and grab them.
hope this makes sense, and good luck!
