Hi guys, I have had Jenvey ITB's in my S for about a month and last week the car lost a lot of power - runs smoothly but it's very slow to redline, I guesstimate 30-40 horse power down.

Connected the AEM to the laptop and it's reading a fuel/air mixture of 7 at idle. Is it even possible for this car to idle so rich? if not then the sensor is messed up...

also, if it is running that rich is probably a bad idea to drive it, correct?

Definitely a bad idea to drive it if it's really running that rich. Can you get a tailpipe sniffer to double-check the readings at the exhaust and see if your sensor is just messed up?
Have you checked sensor connections? Do you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator that might've got cranked up? Is your throttle linkage messed up where it's only opening partially, but you're still injecting the same amount of fuel?

Anything else happen around the time that the power loss occurred (where you doing service, did you let anybody else under the hood, etc, etc)?

 

good ideas - the fuel pressure gauge is reading a steady 40-50 (not sure if that's good), all connections are good. have not checked the regulator and will do so tonight.

a sniffer sounds like a great idea to bring home and try it out - i'll see who may have that.

throttle linkage looks fine. i cannot think of what happened - i simply did not drive the car for a week and then it changed at WOT...

Do you have a catalytic converter? Is it possible it broke up and is clogging the exhaust flow? Any other possible obstructions in the exhaust flow?

yes, 1052U, definetly checked off the O2 control (though it was left on when it was tuned). i called andrew for help, you in town this weekend?

i'm just not trustful of modacar's customer service. want to exhaust all possibilities before flat-bedding it to sac-town...

I'll be between a Wedding and Sears Point the whole weekend, though I'll have my laptop handy.

 

Also, I still think you need to do a leakdown and compression test, to rule out damage via running open filter.

 

Ouch.. yeah, that's a good point. For all we know, a family of rodents could've built a nest in your open trumpet while it was at rest.
