A dry carbon hood is between 4 and 7 pounds lighter -- probably closer to 4. Stock hood is around 19 pounds. Some of that is the fire blanket though so take that off and you are really only saving about 2-4 pounds.

ASM full Dry Carbon was almost 8lbs lighter than my OEM one.

OEM = 18.5lbs
ASM Full Dry CF = 10.5lbs
Buddy club vented hood = 14lbs
Seibon OEM style hood = 20lbs

The scale may be slightly off, but they were all weighed on the same scale.

The real benefit is in the venting of the hood, not the weight savings.

Its more of an aesthetic upgrade. OEM hoods are really not all that heavy to begin with, so at most you would probably only be saving about 10 pounds. In my opinion you can spend the $500 on something better.

I agree with the asthetic comment if you are buying a CF version of the OEM hood. If the hood is vented to reduce under hood temps then I would not say its just for asthetics (which would be the case for the three hoods in question). Lower under hood tempatures can help reduce premature engine wear while reducing weight = a win win in my book

I also agree the OEM hood is light, but shedding weight on a car that lacks TQ can have a huge benifit on response and excelleration.

Things like a CF hood = -8.5lbs lighter, single outlet exhaust weight exhaust = -30.lbs lighter, gutted trunk = -25lbs. lighter, so on and so forth 3 items listed and weight could be reduced by almost 65lbs that gets another from me

The last part about "$500.00 could be better spent else where", I understand what your saying but your pricing is waaaay off, the hoods the OP is talking about retail from about $2000 - $3500.00.

Lighter exhaust makes sense, but $2-3K+ for a carbon fiber hood that sheds only 8.5 pounds? Not worth it IMO. Use that money to buy Ti exhaust, or lighter rims, or even SC/turbo.
