Default Started rebuilding my comptech sc...

well, after lots of debating and leaning back and forth... i am not selling my s2000 for a sc300. (plan was to be 2jz'ed and 600hp)

i've decided to keep the s, and play with it. i ordered my cf hardtop, am rebuilding my blower, and ordering wheels, fmic and something to tune the s/c. (not sure what yet)

i wasn't sure if my blower was bad.
it made great power, just had an "odd" sound to it.

well, i opened it up, and out of the 4 bearings inside, the small one opposite the turbine sounds shot.
im not sure if it is, it looks good, it just sounds like a skateboard when i spin it. the rest are silent.

im thinking that is the culprit for the high pitched squeal and "ting-ing" sound.

can anyone confirm this for me, or at least offer insight? i haven't been able to find ANY info on rebuilding the novi 1000.

You'd probably be better off buying a new one.

Go for the rebuild and replacement of that bearing and let us know how it goes.

rofl, are you serious?
a new blower unit is far more expensive than buying a bearing.
disassembly took 3 minutes. replacing the bearing will require a press, but nothing crazy.

in no way, shape, or form is it easier/cheaper to buy a new blower.

i intend on doing a how to, but the disassembly and replacment is -SO- mind-blowingly easy, that is not even worth the pictures.

Where did you get the bearings from?

Take a pic of the inside so I can see what it all looks like.

x2

Mine makes the same noise, and is leaking a bit of oil. Its been on my garage floor in a bag for 5 months now, waiting to be ditched for an SOT.... I've been waiting for a NOVI re-build thread

I bet there is a how-to on one of the boards out there (mustang, or GM boards)

Oh, and forget the parts from Paxton. Your local bearing store will sell you the same bearing for SIGNIFICANTLY lower cost. I do this for the many bearing re-builds for the many machines I have at my place of business.

Jbell- If we can get some numbers, and you dont have access to a local bearing store, I have one down the raod from my production facility that I can snap a few up

Any numbers on the bearing readable?

I think I'm gunna go tear mine apart tonight and do this with you
