Default Now I get it.....

Apologies for the long post, it's a long story.....

I had a Focus as a beater and as I seem to spend a lot of time in it I wanted to change itl.

As a beater it was capable, reliable, economical reasonably good handling for an estate but dull. Dull, dull, dull, dull, dull.

And Kate got car sick in it as a passenger on twisty roads, so any enjoyment I might have had from it was short lived if Kate was alongside.

So I started to look for alternatives.

I'm saying nothing

Well ok then... couldn't resist

You're right - finding an unmolested one is virtually impossible, they're worth their weight...

Glad you like it Just a shame more aren't used a bit more, rather than kept as garage (or worse "cruisin'") queens!

Nice that you agree about the interior too - people criticise them heavily for being squeaky rattly cheap plastic - ok it's plastic but it's functional with no pretense (and far fewer squeaks than my S!)

Tyres - not sure what is expensive, but a full set for mine (17's) was

Agree entirely with your impressions of the wagon. I have a MY98 UK spec , dark green with leather interior. Ideal everyday practical car for the winter especially.

Ah ha - I knew youd end up with one of these some day.......and these are better than the brand new ones any day!

Looks like it might have a fruity exhaust on the back too?

This wont cost you much to run, though the servicing intervals are a bit crap. Tyres probably

I am more bigoted than prejudiced

It IS the only version I would consider though

Has the dog been sick in it yet

Or is he still jammed in a door pocket?

Nice but 4.500 quid for a 12 year old car

you must earn too much
I have to say I was skeptical until I got in and drove the thing.

It's only been used for 2 of those 12 years, and it shows.

At least it's not a Mundano eh.....

Pete, dog's not been in it yet - any free time before Christmas for us both to make a visit to yours? I 'break up' tomorrow and the dog's not seen the sea for a while....

No probs Mark!

Glad you like it.

I still remember when these came out and nobody knew what they were - the massive waiting lists to buy them etc...

Great fun

Pete - must PM you back!

PS - what miles are you getting form a tank? Lambda sensors can fail on these, and you end up with 40 miles less to a tank than you should.

PPS - I like the thread title, there are a lot of misconceptions about AWD on here
