They do feel a bit uninvolving after a lighter, more chuckable car (which is why Karen didn't get one in the end) but it's sort of missing the point of the Impreza.

As stated, one must simply push deeper.

Just wish the new one wasn't so underwhelming.

San's Spec C must use lots of oil

I too used to think AWD had no place on track, but looking at some of the times the new Spec C puts in on the ring (sub 8 mins) and also the Evo, im starting ot think differently.

And then there's the new GTR

Getting a good time round the ring doesn't make a good track car, it seems to indicate a quick road car which is a different kettle of fish - IMO.

I think we've had this conversation before

I'll bring the car to a trackday next year and we can do a scientific experiment;

AWD - track or road?

To be honest, it will be used to tow the Fury to track days but the thought was in the back of my mind that on very wet days it would probably be used instead.

To answer some of the other comments, yes, it definitely isn't as fast in a straight line as it initially seems, it's a bit like the S2000 in that respect I feel. To be honest, as it's primarily a road car and I don't go in for traffic light grand prix, it doesn't worry me so much. Had a Golf of some description stuck to my bumper the other day, as soon as we left the straight he was left behind, that's about my limit on the road, I'll save the racing for the track.

Nick, the first thing Kate said on seeing the inside was that it looked just like the CR-V she used to have. Still getting used to having the indicator on the correct side again though.....

San, thanks, I'll check the oil - any idea what to top up with?

And yes, I think it is a 'should own one at some point' car. When I was an IT contractor I had the Integrale, lower cost price but it soon made up for it in maintenance and repair bills

Biggest problem with mine on track was brakes - they REALLY couldnt handle more than 3 or 4 laps of Donnington, the understeer was the next problem.............fun cars though, never regretted owning mine for a second, it saw lots of track days and sprints and quite a few upgrades and spare sets of wheels with track tyres were purchased, better brakes bolted on, springs firmed up etc etc........why did I sell it, erm........

Oh, the understeer!

I cannot remember what I was harrying (Westfield pinto I think) and there was a very similar Scooby (saloon) harrying me.

First sharp turn had Scoobie through the cones & left the track toys to play in peace.

It did look funny in my mirrors.

Mark - best find out what its using atm, but fully synth 5W40 will do fine for an oil change.

On the early cars you do need to do the turbo cool down thing too.
