Tighten your throttle cable!
Hey guys lately theres been ALOT of slack in my pedal and when i would turn on my car it would go up to 2k and drop to about 100rpm and go back up to regular idle. Then one day i pretty much had to push the pedal halfway down just to feel some tension in it, i had about 2 inches of slack on my throttle cable, took 5 minutes to tighten it and it feels sooo much better. Car doesnt almost die anymore and throttle response is 100x better. Go do it
Just be mindful that it's possible to overdo it. I made this mistake when I first got the car. Cable felt quite loose so I took all the slack out of it. All of a sudden there was, I dunno, half an inch or so of the final travel of the gas pedal that got very, very stiff. I got a helper to get it just to where when the pedal's on the floor, the throttle is all the way open.
I hate to be the noob, but I have to ask... the DBW cars don't have this problem, do they? The throttle cable looks to go into some black box(the DBW box I suppose) and seems like a self contained unit.
great reminder--definitely worth doing!! --here's an earlier thread on it that's worth reading too (it's only for the 00--05 years --non-DBW--there's no cable to adjust on 06 and later)

this was my first "mod" back in about 2000... when the car was a few months old.
made a tight car tighter- the throttle response improvement over stock was amazing- since then it has retainied the tightness, and have not had to readjust it yet.
