Default Official Pond Rebuild thread.

This is my official pond build or rebuild thread.

I built the original pond a few years back knowing very little about Koi requirements thus making many mistakes. I've been learning about Koi keeping since then and have finally decided to redo my pond and get rid of the large mistakes.

**DISCLAIMER** I'm still not doing everything 100% correct but making due with what I have (really high end systems can cost 100's of thousands of dollars **end DISCLAIMER**

=WHAT I PLAN TO ACCOMPLISH=
1. Remove Planting Shelves (Perfect place for Preditors to stand and eat your Koi)
2. Remove rocks from Bottom (Captures too much pathogens and gunk)
3. Install larger bottom Drains (Takes the poo away)
4. Install Settlement Chamber prior to pumps (Makes sure poo doesn't get blended up)
5. Make it deeper (currently barely 4' at deep end)
6. Over all add more volume, currently 7500gal estimated final 25,000gal.

Ding Ding Ding,.. lets go!

First a few pictures of the "Before"

Don

Its been raining all the time, skipped last weekend due to saturation of the ground but started back this weekend.

Ok so It wasn't quite deep enough ended up at about 4' , so I rented the tractor for another day finally at about 5.5'. Installed the footer for the support for upper stocktank/falls.

Other random photos of Settlement chamber and the stocktank waterfall.

Holy excrement batboy! That was a bit of a dig. You have all the permits right...

Do you have a biofiltration system? If not, I would keep the gravel for surface area. Are you laying anything under the liner? Given the size of that, I would be a little concerned about your dissolved oxygen at night.
