Default T1R Crankshaft Pulley

http://www.typeoneracing.com/catalog/produ...4&cat=89&page=1

Was wondering if anyone has installed this yet. About to make an impulse buy.

It states it's the same diameter as OEM, which is great for me. I did a search and saw where a few stated that the OEM pulley had a balancer and any aftermarkets do not. Can anyone confirm or debug this for me? Rotational weight savings is a good benefit and besides removal this should be an easy mod for small to minimal gains.

Thanks.

Yeah sadly thats the only thread on this modification with that specific part. I appreciate the link, and had already read that one.

Did anyone participate in that group buy, or did you guys opt for the fuel ionizer?

I just need to know if this part is going to cause accelerated wear due to a balance issue. Since it's the same diameter/size as OEM it won't cause the underdrive effects, just rotational weight savings.

Weight is what balances it. So I believe when you reduce the weight, you reduce it's effect to balance the crank.

I'm not certain but that's a good guess

LOL......I don't guess anyone would want to install it if it didnt work properly!!!!! It amazes me when these parts are advertised the way they are but the results are so bad/negative.

Now i am not a fan of the T1R fuel ionizer, but i would have thought this part would have some positive results coming from this company and their strong followers.

I thought our motors are harmonically balanced? If so, this is not a mod I would do.

As for marketing stupid parts, all companies do it. They need money. If they can sell you something that is totally worthless that they can make some money on, they will. Just because T1R makes some BS parts for profit making, it doesn't negate them as a company. HKS, Greddy, Mugen, etc all make LOTs of bullsh!t parts...probably almost 60% of their parts are total BS.

I would figure that the balancing would be done on the crankshaft itselfor atleast something more reliable. Not by some cheap flywheel spun by a belt. When you say harmonically balanced, does that mean the flywheel will be weighted somewhere?

Balancing, and harmonic dampening are different. The pulleys weight is important for the longevity of the motor. You have to remember the difference between street and race parts. If you can afford rebuilds for an all out race motor, go for it.

This is my D/D, so I don't need anything killing it off sooner than normal. The advertisement makes it seem so

So you are saying the flywheel acts as a dampener?

dam right man. there has been a few products in the health care industries using pseudo-scientific jargons/medical/dental concepts to fool consumers. Always look for reputable science magazines and science sources that test & evaluate these products. Some products can pass FDA but provide no real true benefit to consumers. I have spend some of my time at the dental clinic to answer and inform my patients to stay away from the scum&filth of the earth companies like this.
I emailed Honda Tuning about this light weight pulley set from orthodox, tracey sports, ...ect and I am waiting for a reply. Fot the time being, I would not put this thing in my car.
