2006-2007 Radiator Fan Switch. HELP
So I am parting out my car and thought I would hook a friend up with my Koyo Radiator. His car is a 2007. So we swap radiators only to find out now that the fan switches are different. I read this thread and saw 2qyk4u saying that you cant just splice on the connectors (basically we would swap). Can anyone confirm this? The fan switch in the koyo is a Mugen.

I do not believe this type of mod is as simple as simply having a different bung welded in a radiator:
1. The MY06+ S2000 uses a fan switch that is smaller than PY S2000s.
2. The MY06+ S2000 has two temperature control sensors--one at the radiator and one at the intake manifold.
3. If you change either one of these sensors there is a -chance- that you could send false signals to the ECU and who knows what happens from there.
If you want to use an aftermarket radiator on an MY06+ S2000, you can simply have a smaller bung welded into that radiator and use the OEM fan switch. At this point I would advise against not using the MY06+ fan switch and sensor going into the intake manifold.

I guess I didn't clarify what I meant. I meant he would need to have a bung welded and threaded on the Koyo radiator to retain use of the OEM AP2 (MY06+) fan switch.
Thanks for clearing it up though.

Ok so what about for me? Could I run and ap3 (lol) radiator on an ap1 and just splice an ap3 connector on to my harness and run the ap3 fan switch.

Phil...did you end up getting your Mugen fan switch to work with your MY06 ecu?
I tried to spice an AP1 fan switch to an 06 harness. It does not work. The CEL comes on. You need to use the 06 temperature sensor. Like 2qyk4u said, you need to have a bung welded for the MY06 sensor.
