Default infamous rear vibration/clicking

Ok, I personally have been victim to the "rear clicking" sound some here complain about.
My sound was the 'stop, start, and reverse (single) click from the rear.
I have changed my rear axle nuts (36mm spindle nuts) and even re-torqued to correct measurements (220ft/lbs) but nothing seemed to have fixed my issue. The only thing it did was temporarily correct it.

So, I have done some research here on the forums and feel that all the info here is mixed and could possibly steer some in the wrong direction. So, I am linking most of the info here.

For those who have tried the axle nut fix and is still effected. Have you tried this.
This forum here explains how to swap your inner CV joints in order to fix or prevent rear vibration under acceleration.

In this forum, Twohoos throws out a detail that many have overlooked.
"Notice the rust on the axle splines (right end of the shaft in this pic); add a little of the CV grease to the splines and you'll also cure/prevent the annoying-but-harmless rear-axle "click" noise."

I know that troubleshooting sound issues over the internet is hard and almost impossible, But there is plenty of info out there to help. So be sure t use the Search Tool.

Thanks for the heads up. I've been trying to figure out what to do about that annoying clicking.

I retorqued my spindle nuts to 220 lb ft, but the click was still there, maybe to a lesser extent. Then I tightened it some more, ignored the torque spec, stood on the wrench, jumped on the wrench. That did the trick.

you do realize that if you had to do all that then something is really f'ed up, right? ok good just checking.

you guys can be prepared to be replacing axles and/or bearing/hub assemblies before too long.
