How about on the wall in the garage. There is no room for one in the S.

I've seen one mounted on the cross-member in front of the passenger seat. It wasn't too accessible and it gets kicked by passengers if they're not careful. Please do not mount one on the passenger A-pillar as I've seen done on Civics and Accords. That is a serious safety hazard to the passenger in the event of an accident.

Why do you want one mounted in your car anyway?

fit it horizontally on the floor behind your seat if you're not too tall

I found one that fits in the secret compartment. Out of sight and ready when needed.

That's a good place for it.

FSures:

What brand and size fire extinguisher did you get? Where did you get it? Assuming that a fire extinguisher that small contains enough chemical to put out a modest engine fire, your extinguisher sounds like a good solution.

CoralDoc:

I was under the impression that it was good practice to have a small extinguisher in the car when you track it, in the unlikely event that something causes a fire while you're out on the track. SpeedVentures strongly suggests having an extinguisher at their events. However, the upcoming Thunderhill event will be my first so I am a neophyte in this arena. Am I misinformed about needing an extinguisher?

Thanks guys.

Ever since my cousin was saved (nasty head-on that killed his wife, the other driver fell asleep and crossed the median) by a couple by standers were able beat the fire down enough to cut his seatbelt and pull him out of his burning car I've been carrying a fire extinguisher with a knife taped to the side.

Don't have a S2000 so space isn't a issue.

I don't have the car with me right now, but, I believe it's an API unit. It's about2 lbs and was purchased from Pep Boys for around 40.00.

i put mine on inside passenger section. close enough for me to reach but out of my way, passenger may have to rest left leg against it, but i drive alone most of the time. i just asked the guy that drives with me to work if having it there bothered him, he is 6'1", medium frame, and he asked me what fire extinguisher? so i guess for small/medium people it is no problem.

having it in the trunk would only add a little time in getting to it, but i think that if it is visible in the driving compartment and you are in an accident and some good samaritan is there to help you before the rescue crews arrive and you are out of it, they will not know to look in trunk or where the button is to open it.
