S2K Challenge Series #7 Results
Summer is officially here!!! The 7th S2K Challenge event was held on June 29, 2009 at the Willow Spring International Raceway "Big Track." The 2.5mile course consists of 9 corners which combines speed with turns and elevation changes to offer a unique challenge. The top S2000 Challenge drivers were hitting 125mph+ on the front straight.
Weather: HOT. 100F was the high for the day. Qualifying lap times for most were fastest in the morning when the temps were low/medium and would slowly rise session after session due to the heat. The S2K Challenge participants hiding from the sun in our dedicated garage area:
Speedventures ran a dedicated S2K Challenge Time Attack Session at the end of the day. Cars were gridded based on qualifying times during the day, and sent off one by one: one warmup lap, two timed laps, and one cooldown lap. Final lap times were a bit higher than our prior WSIR event in February, primarily due to the weather, but given the external factors, the S2K drivers did a great job. At the end of the day, an awards ceremony was held. Podium finishers were given special plaques, thanks to Cobblestone Realty in Palmdale. Prizes from our awesome sponsors were also given out. Congratulations to all the winners!!!

looks like you had the same problem as I did in my RX8 earlier this year...you're understeering through turn 5 which doesn't allow you to get on the throttle early and kills your speed into turns 6,7 and 8...that's where you're losing the most ground on the s2000...try to get rid of the understeer in that turn and your lap times will plummet

I sure do understeer through most of those turns. Im undecided on which cure would be best for this. Any input besides non staggard? Im thinking of a lip but Im undecided on which one.
I also could use more camber in the front. I rosted the outer 2/3rds in the fronts on my Nittos. The inner 1/3rd looks great.
Great time out there, maybe next time it won't be so hot. (wishfull thinking)

What happened to your car, Mike???
Also, at this event, I mis-shifted from 5th to 2nd. I didn't pull the clutch out all the way, but enough for the rear to kick out going into turn 1. Datalogger says I hit 9962rpm for a split second. Should I be concerned?
