Default Vibration Under Hard Acceleration

I just bought an 02 S2K with 125K miles on it. It runs well but I have noticed a vibration under hard acceleration. Any time I get it above 4 or 5 K it vibrates but if I lift my foot off the accelerator the vibration stops.

The tires on it are cheap -just good enough to pass inspection- tires but could that be the cause of my issue. Thanks for any insight.

Also, any other major concerns I should be thinking about with a high mileage S2K? ow many miles will an AP1 motor go before major issues.

Is the car lowered? Or was it lowered and now back at original ride height?

If so it may be the inner CV buckets. Here is a thread to help understand what may be going on:

I'm not dismissing that the tires may be the issue as well...but normally if the vibration is only on accel, it is a good indication that the CV buckets are the problem.

I'm with negcamber. It's rear CV joints. Mine did the same thing, replaced them and the vibration totally went away. good luck.

Thanks I was thinking it could be CV joints, especially with that many miles on the car.

could the "CV Pit theory" be the cause of it too if there was vibration at normal highway speeds? but not as noticable at lower speeds.

Yeah, sounds like your CV joints are experiencing pitting.

I just fixed the same problem by installing T1R Drive shaft spacers. Another cheaper option is to swap the CV's to the opposing sides.

Good luck!
