Default Advice on my Proposed Sound System Please!

Ok so I am trying to get another s2000 soon, and am going to do a stereo upgrade soon. I am trying to keep it easy and relatively cheap, with room for expansion. I am thinking about for head unit: Nakamichi CD 400, with Tangband 1" Ceramic Dome Tweeter and Madisound 6" Woofer. Is there any reason this won't work? I would probably cross over at 2.5khz does this sound reasonable? Thanks!

I think this will be a good start, I will Dynamat the doors for sure. I hope with the VERY low fs of 28.6hz on the Madisound I won't need a sub. I also hope with the nakamichi amp it won't clip too often. Input and C&C greatly appreciated!

I have a CD400, which I'm quite happy with, but it's no powerhouse.
You don't mention an external amp, but IMO you'll want one with a
noisy car such as the s2000 (regardless of which headunit you choose).
You also don't mention *how* you're going to cross over your speakers -
that headunit has no built-in filters/crossovers. Do you have some
external passive crossovers, or an amp with suitable filters?

I like Nakamichi decks a lot, so good choice there.
However, could you fill me in on the component setup? Also, Im pretty sure youd need an amp, even coaxials sound better with an amp..

Ah okay I have an old Carver 240 amp I'll mount in the trunk. I wish there was a better way but I'm looking at passive crossovers. I'm also thinking I might go with the 2" Tangband Mid/ Full Range driver instead of a tweeter. It has an FS of 160, so I could crossover the Madisounds at ~250 hertz and have them really pulling bass duty!

Or I could do an Alpine 98xx with an Alpine PDX 2.150, running some Alpine Type X SPX-17REF components. Thanks for the input guys

Okay okay I'm all over the place. Now my thinking is Boston Acoustics Pro60SE as I heard they kick a$$. Running that with the Nakimichi head unit, and either an Alpine PDX 2.150 or the Carver at 2.120. I've heard the bostons sound better with more power, and they are rated at 125 watts RMS. Would the Carver @ 120 RMS be okay or should I go with the Alpine @ 150 RMS for more midbass.

How much do you have to spend, Zhp?

That's really what I need to know to see what I can do for you

I don't really know I'd say can't be higher than. $750, preferably $550 or so. Willing to do ebay. My main goals are; nice simple head unit with good sound output and rear aux in, high quality speakers that play a balance of sound quality and volume, speakers that provide enough bass that I won't really miss a subwoofer, and use my amp. I'd like to use my carver amp if possible because it sounds good. I'm really just all over the place with components, I think I'd like the listed head unit also. Also don't want to do rear speakers. Any help would be appreciated.
