I am hearing rumors that Honda will stop making the S2000 this year, but I also heard a rumor today that they will continue production. I heard rumors that they make 5000 and year, and I have heard rumors that they make 2500 a year. I have heard that they go for 45k+ in some places, and others get them for MSRP. What is the story on this beautiful car and where is it going in the future?

 

I think they can only produce about 20,000 per year for worldwide distribution with about 25% of them coming stateside. I would assume a 4 year production run, or at least until the new NSX is ready.

 

I am curious about the same question. My dealer said the production is only 5,000 per year and that '01 is the last year. Production may equate to US imports in his mind, but somewhere the story is being promulgated that this is the last year.

Here's the facts:
1) NO ONE KNOWS!
2) Even if sales people did know (which they don't; see above) they would tell you whatever is more likely to lead to a sale.
3) We should all spend less time pondering this question and more time roaring around twisties!

Fact is, no one knows anything for sure, and won't until Honda decides to make an announcement...that's all that should be said about it!

 

I hope they build it until everyone who wants one gets one, right? BS, I've got mine, so I don't care. Is that cold or what?
