Smile What's this on my fender?

I've been really busy lately and haven't had a chance to post this up, but during Thanksgiving week, when I came out to my car in a parking lot, I noticed something off-color on the paint. I tried to wash it off with water and a gentle soap with no luck. I've sent these photos to a detailer who (in 11 years of detailing) has never seen anything like it before. He'll be checking my clear coat thickness and all in a couple weeks when I see him...

Long story short, I'm looking for ideas on...

1. What could have caused this?
2. Do you think a detailer will be able to remove it?
3. Is this likely due to an issue with the clear coat?
4. If this is a clear coat issue, is this something I should talk to Honda about?
5. Has anyone else seen something similar or experienced anything similar?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Have you talked to the dealer?

Take it to the dealer. That shouldn't be happening to paint 6 months after you bought it.

Actually, bird crap and other environmental elements can damage perfectly good paint. From the circular spattering and the trail of splotches, it looks like that's exactly what happened.

If it is indeed etched into the clear coat, a detailer may be able to make it less noticeable, or even get it out if it's not too deep. If it's something like paint on top of the clear coat, it's possible a claybar might remove it.

Your detailer will have to determine what works best. It's hard to be sure over the internet.

looks like a drop of something then trailed back as you were driveing, until it dried. dealer might cover this so try there first. they will most likely be calling a detailer also but they will foot the bill.

The discoloration is weird. It looks like it could have been fuel or maybe alcohol.

I didn't take it to a dealership yet, as I bought the car in WI but live in IL. Plus, I've yet to have a positive experience at a dealership that didn't involve me dropping a ton of cash.

My best guess is in line with drhess06259.

At any rate, I'll check it out with a local dealer and see what they can do. I have more faith in my detailer, but I suppose the dealer is worth a shot.

Thanks!

I used to work for a dealer any my deal used only the best detailer for customer cars but since you didn't buy it there i don't know how well they will help you out. explain to them you just moved into town and you love honda and want to build a relationship with them maybe they will start out on a good foot. in there eyes you did just buy a highend for honda cars. it's not like u got a certified pre-owned civic lol. in honda price range the s2k is high up.

What he said, it just looks like a chemical got on it. My paint has some fading around the same spot cus someone with oil touched the paint.
