They ran 2 segments on the local ABC affiliate last night. When asked how he managed to get out of the house April said "Everybody makes mistakes. It was an honest mistake."
She was also puzzled that he was able to get the beer open.

Does that mean they took him home and made him a grilled cheese sandwich, ordered chinese food and put him to bed on the living room floor after allowing him to text his friends with confusing messages?

The kid's four years old. Given his circumstances I don't think he'll be texting anyone when he's 12.
Update -
Child Services moved both mother and child to "alternative living arrangements" today.
