I need some convincing to buy a 2002 S2000.
I'm cutting back on my monthly payments and insurance, so I'm downsizing from a 2002 Corvette Z06. So please help me to decide if this is the right car to get into. I also own a '98 Honda Civic EX, 5spd as my daily commuter.
This is just my observation...........dont get one!! If you go into buying it as a downsize you are getting it for all the wrong reasons. You have Z06 in your username, so it is obvious you are still in love. Im afraid the S is a rebound car for you not a true love. Here is my suggestion, drive one. If you still need to be convinced then you dont really want it. It is an amazing car and driving it should be all the convincing you need......Find a way to keep the vette!!
1) It rev's to 9,000+ rpm.
2) Honda build quality on this car is incredible
3) No other car for the money can come close
4) Ability to see people break their necks looking back as you pass
5) The little red start button
6) It's visually stunning

no one should need to be convinced - by others, no less - whether or not a certain car is right for them..........
now, if you're asking others what their "opinion" of a certain car is, well, that's a more appropriate line of discussion........

The only advice I can add to the above, from my opinion, is to go test drive one. Having said that, I never test drove mine.. I knew I wanted one the minute I sat in it. The first time I got to drive mine was the day I picked it up and it was everything that I had ever read about it and more. I did a lot of research before buying it.. I have a couple of friends with S2000 and their sheer enthusiasm rubbed off enough that I knew I had to own one. I am not disappointed at all. Its a beautiful car and turns everyone's heads.
Don't buy one.
What we say shouldn't make any difference at all. You either love this car because you drove it and had the thing that happens to us happen to you or you didn't.
If it didn't happen to you, it won't. This car is an emotional thing.

Going to a S2K from a Z06 will be a tremendous shock to you.
I imagine that you will never be satisfied due to the extreme difference in torque.
If I were you, I'd simply keep the Z06. I bet if you did a thorough analysis, you won't be saving that much from downgrading.
