Default Flip-out screen, no dash cutting! It fit, sorta!

So, started tearing apart my dash today. When I started I wasn't sure if it was going to work but I had to try.

I am glad I went for it. The way the dash comes together, really makes it easy to work on.

Why this unit? The adjustments. When looking at HU's I noticed how this screen can be adjusted to come further out from the unit.

Anyway, there are a couple imperfections. I did remove the inside part of the radio door, to allow the face of the unit to stick our a little further than the stock radio. I may not have need to do this, but it make sure not buttons are pushed when the door is closed. And, possibly the killer for many, the shifter cannot be in 1st, 3rd or 5th to open or close the door.

These are small tradeoffs to get an awesome 7" flip out screen to fit without permanently modifying the dash.

I still have some finishing to do. I am going to try snapping weather stripping to fill in the gap since the face is not as recessed as the stock unit.

Its not perfect, but I am excited to have an awesome touchscreen, dvd, bluetooth, full Ipod control, and navigation.

Please be nice.

Can the screen be out and have all the gears? Or are you just saying you cant open and close the radio door if you are in 1,3,5?

The screen can be out on all gears, just can't be in 1,3,5 while the screen is opening or closing.

I might try the axial flow short shifter to correct this.

now comes the million dollar question, do they make the kit for this Headunit that keeps the functionality of the dash controls?

It looks like the Modifry wired unit should work. I'll be ordering it and will report back.
