When I was researching on doing this in my S2000, the installers I talked to all stated that over time the flip out screen will jam or get loose due to the moving parts of the mechanism and the S2000 suspension wearing out those flip out screen motorized moving parts. I hope you prove those car audio installers wrong.

I've had this happen on a high end Kenwood flip out screen in my past car.

not super big but nice sized bump

I really want a new head unit with a flip out monitor and i just watched a youtube video of this unit and really like it. Is this the only type of head unit that would work in the S or do i have any other option? I might go to best buy to see what they have to say.

i think this is the only one that would work but i need to leave it out some so it doesn't hit the dash by the a/c, right?

I was looking at this sort of thing too, but I was put off becuase with the standard shifter and grea knob I had at max 10-12mm (around 1/2 inch) clearance between my hands and the dashboard. I couldn't see a way that I could get any sort of screen in there at all. I'd love to see a picture of it fully installed, and set in first (third, or even fifth) to show what clearance is there to see just how much room is left for hands when it's all done!!

I am going to order this head unit tomorrow and i will take lots of pictures! The only thing im worried about it the regular position and it hitting the dash by the a/c controls, but i might just install it further out a little bit.

Hey, I hadn't been around here for a while.

The thing that allows this screen to work is the adjustments you can make with the screen that other models don't offer. This allows you to bring the screen out away from the dash.

The other obstacle is shifter. To get around this I put in a short throw and replaced the knob with an adjustable titanium knob. This allows the knob to be lowered enough so the screen can clear it when opening and closing. The knob only adds an additional 2mm to the top of the shifter.

It took a little work to get each adjusted so it all fits together, but at any time I can put things back to stock. Also, if you just permanantly ground the parking brake sensor you can get around the inability to play movies while driving.
