Default V-TEC issue

Last night I was out for a spin and I noticed that I was having V-TEC issues. When the car hit 6000rpm it would sputter a little and then at 7000rpm the V-TEC would finaly kick in. Any ideas what could be causing this? The only guess I have is that it could be related to that fact that I filled up at a station that I'm not familiar with, using a lower octane gas (92) than usual. I'll have it in at honda this weekend but I just wondered if anyone had any experience with the issue.

It sounds like an oil pressure issue. VTEC won't engage unless the oil pressure is high enough. Have you checked your oil level? I've also heard of some people experiencing things like this up in the mountains (MAP related, I guess).
