2002 s2k nearly stalls in stop / go traffic
folks,
I have a 2002 s2k with approximately 3500 miles. I recently noticed that the engine almost stalls when I'm in stop and go traffic and start out in 1st gear and quickly have to stop again. I've noticed similar near stalls when leaving a gasoline station or parking area where you move for a short distance in 1st gear and stop.
Has anyone experienced similar symptoms and were they diagnosed as a problem or attributable to normal characteristics for this engine?
Thanks,

Thanks,
Check your ECU backup fuse. It is fuse #25, which is the 3rd slot from the top on the right side of the fuse block above the clutch pedal. It is a 7.5 amp fuse.
If the fuse is blown or missing, the ECU won't ever learn how to make the engine idle smoothly.

It's common in the sense that a lot of cars feature this abrupt stop-and-go bumpy ride thing regardless of the temperature outside. I believe it is related to heat soak and it only occurs after sitting around for a good length of time (no consistent airflow).
It's happened in both my '01 and '02 cars. Infrequent, but always in stop-and-go traffic. All you gotta do is put the clutch in and then put it in gear to accelerate again w/ perhaps a little more throttle to "encourage" it. If it bounces yet again, just repeat again.
It's a normal thing. No worries, mate.

I noticed a brief spell of this type of behavior, and it was after my car spent Thanksgiving week driving in much colder temperatures. After a few weeks back in south florida, it went away. I'm wondering if the ECU 'learning' changed a few variables due to the temperature change, and has now changed back.
