Default Rough Idle

Hello,

My 2002 s2000 is idling rough. Inside the cabin, I can hear a rough low sound. When I'm in gear, the car has like trouble moving (like lost in power) and when I let go of the gas the car drops in RPM's, vibrates, feels like its going to turn off but it comes back. Any ideas of what can be causing the problem? The check engine light does not come on.

Try the map whack and resetting the ECU.

It's just a matter of time before xviper chimes in on this

You don't offer enough info yet. From what read, you don't mention if this problems occurs when the engine is cold or normal temps. Since your car is an '02, I assume you've had it for a while(You didn't say). What's mileage? Changed the plugs lately? Clean air flter? Change in type of gas?

At any rate, try and give more info. Anything you can think of.

let me chime in again for some help from you guys:

i have the same problem... when i take my foof off the throttle, sometimes the RPMs will drop really low, and studder a bit, then go back to normal idle speed. It has never stalled...

I did the ECU reset/map whack, removing the MAP sensor and blowing into the hole trick yesterday with my oil change. and my car still has the same problem.

Any suggestions?

I must be getting too old. I don't answer questions that lack detail or those that I've already answered hundreds of times. I'll let others that I have helped to carry the torch for these sorts of questions.
